Medical Student Disorder

Medical student syndrome "MSS" also named medical student disorder, medical student disease and hypochondriasis of medical students is a condition frequently reported in medical students nowadays.

MSS is a constellation of psychiatric symptoms that affect the mood and behaviour of a medical student, especially during the first year of studying medicine.

While Medical students are learning medicine they read lists of symptoms for different diseases daily. Although they are completely healthy, they feel that they are suffering from the symptoms of specific diseases and they have it.

For example: If a medical student is reading about swine flu he may feel its symptoms and do unnecessary laboratory tests to confirm his wrong diagnosis.

Now the disease included millions of non medical students who can easily search in the internet about any disease and believe in having its symptoms---> scary huh

If you suffered from this syndrome before share with me your experience.. through writing your comment down here okay :))

wow.. damn right huh! Cam pernah dapat penyakit nih..hehe. Contoh, mase tu, belajar module CNS (Central nervous System).  info : CNS adalah berkaitan sistem saraf dan otak. Aku rase kepala ni berdenyut sakan. Mule lah pikir bukan-bukan. Hampir gak nak jumpa doktor nak buat CT scan la, MRI la .. haha. Then teringat yang baru-baru ni, tgh menonton TV mase tu. aku terasa sesuatu aneh di bahagian bawah dagu ku. Macam ketulan la. Belah kiri. Hati dah mula risau. Kenapa ni, dulu takde. Kebetulan, baru je belajar buat Neck Examination and Endocrine module plak tu. Ape lagi, try buat diagnosis sendiri. Kanser? Otitis Media? Aku gi la tanye membe and senior. Kot kot diorang tahu. Hampir-hampir jumpa DR Subra (surgeon kat Kolej ku) juga lah. Dahsyat. Nasib baik tak pergi. Malu je. And nak dipendekkan cerita, esoknye aku betul-betul dapat sakit tekak..telinga len macam, badan cam nak demam. Pergi klinik, dr kate.. URTI aje..Upper Respiratory Tract Infection. Fuh lega nyerr. Tapi still tak puas hati ni. Telinga aku ade rase lain macam.

"DR, actually I asked my senior, and she said maybe I got Otitis Media"
"Let me check your ear. It looks fine. U just got URTI. Avoid cold drink and drink a lot of water :)."

Dan sekarang, benjolan di bawah dagu ku dah hilang.. Thanks God I'm Healthy..wee.

Belle' : Rosey cheek is a sign of good health. Is that rite?

thanks akak for your advice.. eh silap.
mungkin, hal ini perlu dititik beratkan..semua medic stud harus hentikan berfikiran yg bukan. Kita kene sihat dulu, baru lah boleh rawat org lain..hee. parah gak kalau 'penyakit' ni berlarutan..hehe

Gud luck!
